Your members are asking how you use AI.

Most associations have no answer prepared. Cimbiotic is independent AI assurance — we assess how AI is actually running in your organization, and give you something credible to show your members, your board and your chapters.

The evidence

There is a gap between what people expect and what organizations do.

It is measurable, it is wide, and it is where trust is quietly lost.

Disclosure of AI use

People who expect AI-assisted written content to be labelled84%
Organizations that both require and enforce disclosure18%

A further 20% require disclosure but do not enforce it consistently, and roughly a third have no requirement at all. Labelling expectation: Fractl, Q2 2026, 1,008 US consumers. Disclosure practice: ISACA 2026 AI Pulse Poll, 3,400+ professionals. Figures are approximate and question wording varies between sources.

The trap

So disclose — but not on its own.

The share of people who say heavy AI use would reduce their trust in an organization they favour roughly doubled between 2025 and 2026, from about 20% to around 40%.

DISCLOSURE ON ITS OWN

“We use AI.”

Reads as an admission. It invites the trust penalty without offering anything to weigh against it.

DISCLOSURE WITH PROOF

“We use AI. It is independently assessed. Here is who is accountable.”

Reads as competence. Only a credible third party can underwrite the difference.

Same sentence. Opposite effect.

What we do

Assurance you can show someone.

Three things, in the order most organizations need them. Each one produces something you can hand to a board or publish to your membership.

The AI Assessment

Fixed price · three weeks

An independent review of what AI is actually running — including the features switched on inside your AMS, LMS and certification platform without anyone deciding to enable them. Ends in a published Trust Disclosure statement your members can read. See what it covers.

Deployment Assurance

Monthly · ongoing

Continuous monitoring of what your AI tools actually do — outputs, errors, drift, cost, access — with a standing report your board can read without a translator. Day one is choosing a tool. This is every day after.

Vendor Certification

For AI vendors serving the sector

Independent certification that an AI product meets a published standard for safety, data handling and governance — so buyers have a basis for trust at the point of purchase rather than a vendor’s word for it.

Advisory

Board and Executive AI Advisory

For a small number of organizations that want senior judgement on AI without hiring for it. A fixed monthly retainer, a six-month minimum, three to four clients at a time.

What it is

Working with your chief staff executive and board on AI strategy, governance and readiness — what to adopt, what to refuse, how to explain it to a board, and what to tell members. Strictly advisory: we advise on decisions, we do not make them, configure systems or run your AI programme.

And the rule that comes with it

We do not certify an organization we currently advise, or have advised in the preceding twelve months. Disclosure can handle a relationship. It cannot handle grading our own recommendations, and we would rather lose the engagement than blur that.

Why a general product will not do

Associations carry exposures most organizations do not.

Four of these are specific to membership organizations. Each one raises the cost of getting AI wrong.

Credentialing integrity

AI now touches item generation, adaptive prep, scoring support and eligibility screening. A credential is worth exactly what the market believes about its rigour.

Members whose careers AI threatens

Around 70% of Americans expect AI to reduce job opportunities, rising to roughly 81% among Gen Z. Careless AI use on those members reads as betrayal.

Competitively sensitive member data

Trade associations hold pricing, volume and wage data from competing companies under antitrust discipline. Feeding that into an AI vendor is a category of risk with no general equivalent.

Chapters and components

Local chapters adopt tools independently, under your brand, usually with no governance capacity. The risk is federated. The reputation is not.

Our position

Why it has to be someone independent.

We do not sell AI.

Cimbiotic takes no money from any vendor it assesses or certifies. We have nothing to recommend you buy, and no reason to find your tools acceptable.

We publish our criteria.

You can read the framework before you engage us — and so can anyone you show the results to. A standard that cannot show its working is a logo. See the approach.

We can say no.

We keep the right to fail an assessment and to withdraw a mark. An assurance provider that has never refused anyone is not providing assurance.

Start by finding out where you actually stand.

Sixteen questions, about five minutes, no sign-up to see your result. If the answer is that you are in good shape, we will say so.
